In 1929 our firm was established by Willard R. Gant Sr., a dedicated, caring professional. This firm was located at 348 Main Street, in downtown Reedsburg. His sons, Willard R. Gant Jr., began his career in 1955, and Richard A. Gant began his career 1959. Following their studies, they each joined the firm, forming a three-way partnership, until Willard Sr.’s retirement.
In 1966, the business moved to 1136 E. Main Street on Reedsburg’s East Side. In addition to the Reedsburg location, the Cazenovia Chapel began serving the Cazenovia Area community in 1961. The chapel is located at 111 Main Street, Cazenovia.
In 1986, Daniel Farber purchased the funeral home business from the Gants. He continues to own the business today. In 1994, Julie Ratajczyk joined Dan as a funeral director, and in 1999 became a business partner. The support staff who have joined the firm to assist the funeral directors in providing a meaningful, dignified and compassionate service are , Patti Braun, Ray Harms, Dennis Schulte, Dale Suemnicht.
In 1986, the Infant Memorial Cemetery was founded by Daniel Farber for parents, who have lost an infant through death. This cemetery is located at the Cole Cemetery, on Junction Rd. in Reedsburg Township. All cemetery costs and funeral services are donated by the funeral home. A monument for each child is donated by the funeral home to include engraving. The foundation and setting of the monument is also provided with assistance from Brown-Wilbert Vault Company, at no charge to the family.
The Farber Funeral Home provides personal, caring and professional service to families in Reedsburg and the surrounding communities. We provide a lending library, an after-care program, and the Living Memorial Tribute. We also were the first organization in Reedsburg to hold an annual Service of Remembrance for the families we serve.
We are the forerunners in education to the public on all areas of funerals, both at-need and pre-need. We provide seminars and tours of the facility throughout the year to many children, adult study groups, church groups, clergy, family support service professionals, attorneys and financial consultants.
We take pride in helping families plan a service that will be as unique as the person they love. We enlighten the public through education and provide a continuation of services for grief resolution.
In October of 2001, the Farber Funeral Home moved to its new, more accessible location on 2000 Viking Drive, Highway H, on Reedsburg’s northeast side. This new facility is completely handicap accessible, has ample off street parking and a covered entrance. The foyer and chapel areas are larger than the previous facility.
This new facility and an exceptional staff enhance the personal service the families receive. There is no better facility or funeral service in the area. We look forward to providing with high ethical standards, the personal, caring and professional service to families in Reedsburg and the surrounding communities for another 86 years.
