Maria E. Rankovic

Maria Elena Rankovic, age 69, of LaValle, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Sauk County Health Care Center, Reedsburg. She was born on January 2, 1955, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Hector and Janet (Schwelitz) Delgado. Maria was a 1973 graduate of South Division High School in Milwaukee and a 1977 graduate of UW Milwaukee with a degree in Medical Technology specializing in microbiology and chemistry.

On June 25, 1977, Maria was united in marriage to Djordje Rankovic in St. Nikola Serbian Orthodox Church in Cudahy, WI.  This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Alexa.  Maria was employed at St. Luke Hospital and West Allis Memorial Hospital before retiring to Dutch Hollow Lake, rural LaValle in 2012.  Maria enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Maria is survived by her husband, Djordje; daughter, Alexa (Dave) Cesiel; siblings, Kathy (Mike) Kovatovic, Mary Jo Bugembe, Karen (Rick) Keely, Carmen (Larry) Bates, Theresa (Jeff) Pucylowski, and Steve Delgado; brother-in-law, Alex (Sylvia) Rankovic; aunt, Faye Schwelitz; along with many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Mass for Maria Rankovic will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
